Title: Manager, Transmission Engineering

General Location: Illinois/Indiana/Wisconsin 

 Background

A successful battery/solar developer with over 46 gigawatts in their pipeline needs an experienced professional to guide their development process in various ISO markets.  Using the standard tools for transmission system analysis, the incumbent will manage external consultants as well as complete his/her own transmission/interconnect analyses.

Management has deep background in all types of projects including batteries, solar and large-scale gas-fired generation and grid connection.

There is terrific health insurance with all premiums covered.  Excellent paid time off and sick leave.

Travel: minimal--mainly conferences and company offsites

Remote work: limited since it's a head office function, though some flexibility

Principal Duties

·      manage a portfolio of utility interconnection applications from initial submission through closeout

·      Analyze interconnection due diligence materials to support project acquisition efforts, identify existing and potential red flags 

·      Prepare, submit and manage interconnection requests

·      Review utility impact studies and upgrade estimates to identify cost or time-saving measures

·      Development of single line diagrams for distribution-level and transmission-level interconnection applications & electrical permits

Background Desired/Qualifications

·      Minimum of 3 years of experience in transmission planning and power flow analysis 

·      Proficiency with simulation software such as Power World, TARA, PSS/E 

·      Knowledge of System Impact Studies (SIS) and other interconnection studies of battery storage facilities with the  ISO/RTO markets and ISO interconnection processes 

·      Understanding of electrical diagrams, preliminary site plans, and preparation of interconnection request packages for submittal 

·      Familiarity with US transmission systems and transmission expansion plans

·      Experience with substation design and transmission-level power system protection and coordination is preferred. Ability to lead advocacy and technical negotiations to facilitate advancement of projects

·      Ability to study, understand, synthesize and communicate information from multiple parties and disciplines to 

·      audiences with different backgrounds and experiences
